The APR advertised is known as the headline, or representative rate. This is the rate that the majority (at least 51%) of customers are offered.
When we assess your application, we consider how likely you are to make your payments and whether you will be able to afford them without impacting your wider financial situation. The lowest rates, including 0% APR, are available only to those customers who we determine have a very low risk of failing to make their payments and being able to afford them.
If you are offered a higher APR than the headline rate, it may be due to your credit history, your current financial situation or your previous repayment record with us. We can't share exact reasons for offering a higher APR, but we can tell you what Credit Reference Agency we used and how you can contact them if you need to see the information on your credit report.
If we offer you an APR which is higher than you applied for, we will always draw your attention to any differences between what you applied for and the offer available to you. If you need to think about the offer, or have any questions about it, there is no pressure to complete your application immediately - you can take some time to consider it, ask a question by submitting a request and come back to complete your application later. Please be aware, offers are valid up to a maximum of 72 hours, so if you don't complete your application within that timeframe, you will need to start a fresh application
